Special Needs Schools

Special Needs Junior Boarding Schools

Schools for special needs focus on students that have non-verbal learning disorders such as Asperger’s Syndrome or Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) and verbal learning disorders such as Dyslexia. Some are also well equipped to handle behavioral disorders. These schools will often base their admissions on age rather than grade.
Eagle Hill School
Eagle Hill offers a language-based, remedial program committed to educating children with learning disabilities. The curriculum is individualized, interdisciplinary, and transitional in nature. A secure, structured, nurturing environment supports and stimulates the development of the whole child. As a result, children learn to view themselves as competent individuals with a strong sense of self.
Oakland School
Oakland School is a small co-ed boarding and day school that enables bright children who benefit from a small class size and individualized program to reach their academic and personal potential. Oakland’s mission is three-fold: To provide students with the tools to learn, to instill in students the confidence required to reach their academic and personal potential, and ultimately, to enable students to successfully transition to a traditional classroom at their appropriate grade level. Students with learning differences, particularly language based learning disabilities, ADHD or organizational difficulties may be appropriate for the program.
